Policy evaluation

Research plays a pivotal role in understanding how government policies or programmes operate on the ground. Exploring public attitudes towards policies and looking at participants’ experiences of the programmes reinforces government’s commitment to evidence-based policy making.

Often, there is also a need to analyse management information and consult with other stakeholders to ensure that a 360 degree view of policy aims and impacts is achieved.

We use a wide range of evaluation methods to utilise the best available evidence, which helps central government organisations plan and deliver effective and efficient policies. Our policy and programme evaluations can help to:

  • Assess how effective a policy or programme is in meeting its objectives.
  • Examine the impact a policy has on target audiences.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations for future developments.

We apply our knowledge of the public sector to design bespoke research programmes, often incorporating a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to deliver a comprehensive assessment. We have experience working with organisations at all levels, from local providers to organisations that run national support programmes for government departments.
