ORC International's new Data Solutions Group

We are pleased to announce the establishment of ORC International's Data Solutions Group, an amalgamation of our existing Data Management Services and eInsight divisions.
The Data Solutions Group specialises in building, delivering and maintaining bespoke online data-centric applications that focus upon data collection, analysis and reporting of both business and management information.
The Group recently won a project with The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (PCMD), a partnership between the University of Exeter, University of Plymouth and NHS trusts in Devon and Cornwall. The project involves the building of an assessment database system for PCMD to cover assessments for two groups of students:
- Those studying on the 5-year Peninsula Medical School (PMS) undergraduate programme
- Those studying on the 4-year Peninsula Dental School (PDS) programme.
PCMD has prepared a specification for a database to aggregate, store and report on assessment data for these students. The Assessment Database (ADB) is a new system which will ultimately replace many existing systems to create a single unified and integrated source of student assessment data.
The Data Solutions Group will be working with PCMD to prepare a series of rapidly-released components that can be expanded over time. The first and largest system will be the database: a central repository for storing all assessment information; this will be followed by a series of middleware connectivity components that permit other systems to securely and reliably interact with the database.
A number of input and output mechanisms will be created to a prioritised schedule. These will include web-based forms, spreadsheets, reports and TeleForm interfaces that will allow administrators to easily update and extract information from the ADB.
Once the ADB is complete and delivered our Data Solutions Group will provide handover documentation and training to PCMD staff immediately after the main system deployment, so that they can then support the system and maintain and develop it further if required.
